Wow 6!

6 Years Old!

Just a quick family entry today…

Jesse Dale turned 6 today – we’re now all back to even ages, 6, 8, and 10 for the brood.

These buggers sure grow up fast!

It is fun to reflect back to the day six years ago when Jesse arrived. Joie was hanging out with the boys in her Dad’s shop when her water broke. Ruined the chair I think. Her Mom drove her to the hospital. Joie had her Dad’s sweatpants on and a towel between her legs.

I arrived, probably by Noon. Jesse was born at 12:20 pm. Kiddo #3 was born end-to-end in about 1 hour.

(I’m sure I’ve got this all wrong – so ask Joie the next time you see us).

I wasn’t yet blogging when AJ or even Max was born, but for a trip down memory lane, here is the Jesse Arrives photo album.

Otherwise, this post was just six days away from the big event – but who knew at the time? My next posts in April didn’t start until the 17th, so that kind of tells it all – we were busy those two weeks!

Anyway, Jesse, here is your Spell With Flickr (again, courtesy Erik Kastner) homage:

Green Eggs & Kids

They like it?

We had enough snow this AM that I opted to again work from the home office, but I have to say I had additional motivation to stay here and make breakfast for the kids today.

What better time to take on Green Eggs and Ham than on St. Patrick’s Day?

Joie mentioned it just before bed and once I was up – it was time to egg-speriment.

I have to say, food very clearly involves more senses than the tastebuds – I think most folks get that smell is a heavy influence on taste – but the visuals of food sure factor in too. Not so much for how it tastes, but for weather you actually want to put it in your mouth.

Gotta say – the food looks vibrant – but not appetizing. As for taste – to me – no difference. So if you can get over the greenness hump – you can start your St. Paddy’s day off this way too!

Check out the pics - the kids, well, they came around I think.

Enjoy!

3rd Annual Vegas NASCAR Venture

We are now official NASCAR junkies (rednecks?) I believe. This was our fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race for us (though Neil and Dale have been to many more than us), and eight or more counting ARCA, Craftsman Truck, and Busch and now Nationwide Series races.

Three of the Sprint Cup races (formerly Nextel Cup, formerly Winston Cup) for us have been in Vegas.

It’s a great place to see a race – great enough that NASCAR is already working to put a second race in Vegas on the annual Sprint Cup schedule – sometime in the fall – probably to start as early as next year.

This is our third consecutive trip to Vegas for these races and we definitely have a blast. And I of course have many photos. This set are all from the Saturday Nationwide Series race. I actually thought the finish on this race was more exciting than the Cup race the next day.

Also, AJ has taken to the camera and took a bunch of photos too – of both races. Those will be the next set I post – his and mine and we’ll cover the Sprint Cup race. Stay tuned.

For now, it’s only Nationwide Series, but still, plenty of pics to enjoy… so, enjoy!

Wow – 10!

Announcing the All New iRock

Hello Operator… Connect me with Steve Jobs right away…

So, I left work the other day and forgot my cell phone. Most days I’d probably notice this, at least by Noon, but on this day, I didn’t notice until late afternoon.

I’m not sure it’s that big of a deal – I mean I have a phone in my office, but I mostly like having it for the commute back and forth from home/work.

So, despite it not really causing any problem, I still got that weird “gosh I forgot something” unsettled kinda feeling – the one I usually get when I forget my watch.

That, by the way, and ironically, is the older version of forgetting your phone, since for most Generation X, Y, Z’ers a cellphone is a timepiece – and I think maybe the only timepiece they own.

But, I digress.

I forgot my phone and felt, uneasy, for a moment or two.

I drove home, uneventful, and chatting to no one.

Once here, I went to drop my stuff in my home office as I do every day, and what did I find – the iRock.

Daughter Jesse heard Joie say I forgot my phone, and in her spare time during the day, designed and manufactured the next big thing in phones.

You can see, it is stylish, sturdy, and quite compact. Not to mention, dense.

I’ve been trying to call a patent attorney on it, but can’t seem to get through.

Seriously, it was a fun thing to come home to, and it is reason #463,217 that I love my kids.

Thanks Jesse! You rock. :)
